Excerpt from the MIRANET Deputation: "Clearly this is an important Plan to the citizens – in fact it is the highest level policy document we have. It is both a Vision and an Action Plan. Our City's success is dependent on community support for the Strategic Plan. It's our Plan! We need to help make it happen. To that end, we would like to present the following information for consideration ... We're working together in an exciting new era of citizen engagement across the City, which really began with the Strategic Plan visioning. We are proud to work as active supporters to bring dreams into reality. We think we can help to accelerate and celebrate our City's progress through the addition of clear new indicators in an annual Report Card. ... We are pleased that so many groups and citizens in Mississauga are actively working to support the City’s new Strategic Plan. We have met with representatives of the Mississauga Summit, and with the Strategic Plan Advisory Group. ... we believe it is essential for our citizens groups to have liaison with the academic, corporate, social service and non-profit sectors who can best make these partnerships happen. We look forward to strengthening our ties to the Summit and the Advisory Group by communicating our citizen-oriented priorities and supporting common goals." NOTE: In a globalized world, where cities are competing for innovative and productive workers, leaders need to find ways to attract and keep talent. Prosperity depends on it. The Soul of the Community study offers new insights on the issue, by exploring what draws people to a community – and what makes them want to stay and build a life. It is a roadmap to take us from where the city is today to where it will be tomorrow and over the next forty years. It is both a plan of ideas and a plan of actions. We received thousands and thousands of ideas through the 'Our Future Mississauga' community engagement campaign. Those ideas, your participation and commitment to realizing Mississauga's potential are reflected on each page of the Plan. We invite you to stay connected as we step toward Our Future Mississauga."
