I would like to be able to ask a housing/congestion question of the candidates. Will I be allowed to do so? It is an open discussion and do I need to sign up in advance or submit my question? Thanks

Hello Jeff and thanks so much for reaching out. Housing/development are very important issues in this upcoming election cycle and will definately be addressed. We are working on finalizing the format of the meeting and are hoping to have a portion for audience participation. Once finalized we will reach out and let you know how and if we are able to add that portion. Will keep in touch and if you have any further questions please don’t hesitate to reach out. Have a great Sunday!

Which candidates are participating? I see that Brian Crombie recently threw his hat into the ring. I’m interested in hearing what he has to say – will he be there?

Why did the moderator not approve my comment asking which candidates were participating in this debate?

Good evening Amanda sorry for the late reply. Not sure why it asked us to approve your comment but approved. To answer your previous quesiton the candidates the will be attending are the following:

Carolyn Parrish, Dipika Damerla, David Shaw, George Tavares, Stephen Dasko and Alvin Tedjo. Hoping this helps and looking forward to seeing you there.

Could you please shed light on the selection process and why certain candidates were excluded while current sitting councillors were not? Transparency and inclusivity are fundamental pillars of democracy. Shouldn’t all candidates, regardless of incumbency, be given an equal platform to engage with the community? Given the significance of this election, it’s imperative that diverse perspectives and fresh ideas are heard loud and clear. Looking forward to your response.

Why do you keep deleting my comments??? In the spirit of fairness and transparency, what went into your decision to exclude certain candidates from this opportunity? But all of the incumbent councillors were invited?

      Hi Amanda,

I have the same concern on who were invited.

      Were candidates invited?

Why were only 6 names as the attendees.

Any consideration of having a second debate or moving to a larger venue since this one is sold out?

I’m very confused. Why does the moderator keep deleting my questions. I think it’s fair to ask how you decided who would and would not be invited to participate in your debate. I’d like to hear from candidates other than the sitting councillors. What is so offensive and wrong with that? Very disappointed about your lack of transparency.

Carolyn Parrish didn’t even have the courtesy to show up! Yet, you have candidates sitting in the audience without a voice. Disgraceful. Almost as disgraceful as the fact that you keep censoring the comments section. Never been so disappointed in an organization that is supposed to represent the people it serves.

My computer is old and was not able to connect to the MIranet online prompts to view the election Qu and A at the Maja Prentice Theatre on May 7, 2024. Is there a YouTube video of the event? My computer can often (but not always) connect to those video offerings.
